Chew Lab Sign

Driftwood, Latex & Copper, 50" x 18"Detail of copper leaves with patinaChew Lab SignAfter successfully completing the interior mural for Chew Innovation Lab, we began work on an exterior sign for over the front door on Western Ave. Built out of found driftwood and copper sheets with applied patina, it is painted to match the company logo and backlit with LED for night time illumination.

We are thrilled with how this came out and look forward to doing more three-dimensional work like this!

Chew Lab Mural

Just wrapped a fun new mural/sign for a cool new business in Cambridge called Chew Lab. Focusing on creating smart, healthy foods, they work with other businesses to help them develop new products.

Adam, the owner, tasked us with creating a mural that not only let everyone know what the name of the business was but also told a bit of a story about what they do. So we made a fun colorful collage around the company name, that has hidden details all over relating to the business, as well as a side wall that acts as a “peek” into the “lab” behind it all.

Thanks to Adam and the team at Chew for working with us! Look forward to seeing what comes out of this space!

Rebel IPA

This past December we were asked by Samuel Adams to help them launch their new beer, Rebel IPA, at an event at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA. We created a medium sized panel that we prepped in studio and then painted live during the event. The concept was to incorporate words and phrases in the piece that were being tweeted with the hashtag #rebelipa.

Our good friend Jesse O’Driscoll was brought in to produce a little video of the process…and the awesome result is below..along with a few pics from Samuel Adams.

We had a great time with this one… Working for a beer company has its perks and we were kept pretty happy throughout this project..and for some time after as well.

Thanks for coming our way Sam…hope we get to work together again soon!

225 Franklin

We were recently contacted by LLM Design once again for a fun opportunity at 225 Franklin St in downtown Boston. They were looking for some wall graphics to help make an empty space in the building feel a little cooler, and ready for a young company to move right in.

We worked with LLM to come up with a creative strategy, creating abstract cityscapes with a lot of texture while complementing the existing color scheme of the space.

Check out the pics of the finished walls below!

Nourish Your Soul

The great juice bar Nourish Your Soul recently opened its second location in The Club recently. We were asked to help create some new signage in the space that would help them fit in with the rest of the locations hand painted look, while maintaining the companies branding. Simple, fresh and clean.

EveryBodyFights

Over the summer we were asked to come in on a new project being developed in town by George “Monk” Foreman III. He was building a new boxing/lifestyle gym in South Boston, EveryBodyFights, and we were tasked with bringing his vision to life on the walls within the new space. After working closely with them for several weeks to develop a look and feel that fit with the rest of the brands image, we settled on a design and got to painting.

We brought in our talented friend Kenji Nakayama to join us on this one, and together did three walls total; a large wall in the main gym area and two smaller ones in the main entry way. The end results exceeded expectations on this one, and really set the tone for how the rest of the space should look.

Thanks to George, AJ and the rest of the team at EBF!

Closer to Free Mural

We received a request to help out with the production of a mural in New Haven, CT for the Yale Cancer Centers “Closer to Free” program, bringing inspiration and awareness to others in the fight against cancer. The end product was to be used in a TV commercial highlighting the hospitals program. The style was a little different than what we are used to painting, so it was a fun challenge to reproduce their provided artwork on a 30′ scale.

The end mural was left “unfinished” on purpose so the actual program participants, survivors themselves, could finish the mural while being filmed for a eventual TV commercial. Check out the 60 second spot below!

Thanks to everyone involved to allowing us to participate in such a great project, and special thanks to Caleb Neelon for helping organize and execute this one. (And of course New Haven for the pizza!!!)

Tretorn Backyard Photo Booth

Had a fun project come across our worktable the other day. Our friends at Tretorn had a special request for us… build an 8ft x 8ft “photo booth” for display in the Tretorn Backyard during the Newport Folk Festival at Fort Adams in Newport, RI. Tretorn wanted something where concert goers could stand behind a frame/facade which made it look like they were wearing Tretorn shoes and then take photos to share on Instagram etc. So this meant it had to be strong enough for people to stand/lean on and be easily broken down/set up for transport to location etc. Oh, and it also had to look good…

After a lot of planning, a trip to the hardware store and some fun putting shoes through the table saw… we ended up with what you see below.

It seemed to be a big hit in the Tretorn Backyard (we even got in on the action ourselves) and more importantly it didn’t fall apart!

Thanks for the fun project Tretorn!

Downeast Cider Brewery

Just finished a new wall for Downeast Cider, who is opening a new brewery right next door in Charlestown.

We had been looking to experiment with some trees lately…

(Combining my color washes and geometric shapes with Joshs more rendered tree paintings)

…and when this opportunity popped up it seemed like the perfect fit!

Lots of fun going big on this one… thanks for the opportunity Downeast and for the delicious cider!

(They have a great cranberry apple flavor…..who knew?)

Lastly, thanks to Lot F for coming out to film once again! Always fun!

Tavern Road

Studio Fresh just finished its first official project and its one we will be talking about for a long time.

The DiBiccari brothers (Louis and Michael) recently invited us to decorate their brand new restaurant “Tavern Road” which they opened in the Ft Point neighborhood of Boston. Working with imagery of the brothers Uncle, whos sculpture studio was located on Tavern Road, we created a huge 30ft mural across the back wall and a couple other panels throughout the space.

Make sure to get over there to check out the artwork…and of course the amazing food and drinks!
